World Cancer Day February 4th

Today, on World Cancer Day, February 4th, it is my birthday and I made it to 60! I have been grateful for every breath of life more now than ever! Not just days but seconds of breathing.
Today, I had to share a message of hope and inspiration to all those who have gone through cancer or are currently battling this relentless disease. As someone who has walked through that dark and uncertain path with stage 3 breast cancer in 2006 and stage 4 in 2010, I stand before you as living proof that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
When I woke up this morning, a question lingered in my mind: Do we, the survivors, ever stop thinking about cancer, even when we are declared cancer-free for years? The answer that resonates with me and many others I have spoken to is a resounding no. Cancer changes us. It leaves an indelible mark on our souls, forever reminding us of our strength and resilience.
Let me assure you that I am fully aware personally that the changes cancer brings are not positive, but they are NOT all negative. They can become catalysts for our personal growth and transformation. We discover the true power of the human spirit, the depths of our courage, and the capacity of our hearts to love and appreciate life even more profoundly.
Though I never wish to hear of someone else receiving a cancer diagnosis, I recently received a blessing in disguise. Many people, including family who are so dear to me and are currently fighting cancer, share inspiring stories with me that this journey has only strengthened their faith. Even amidst anxiety and panic, their faith has grown deeper than ever, and their heart has become softer, more compassionate, and more appreciative of life's precious moments. This reminded me of my own father, who faced cancer with unwavering faith and a heart that overflowed with love for others.
Today, my sincere prayer is for complete healing for all those battling cancer, and for those of us who have traversed the arduous path, I pray for continued health and strength. But more than that, I wish you the most peaceful days filled with laughter, joy, and an unwavering zest for life. Embrace every moment, count your blessings, and cherish every moment in the beauty surrounding you.
Getting cancer taught me about the curveballs life throws our way, how much stronger I was than I ever realized, and also what matters most. It was a soul-stirring call to action, resonating deep within me. I went on a journey to discover my soul's true purpose, knowing that one day, like everyone else, my soul will journey on, and I will celebrate with those who have gone before me. xoxo

Pursuing being the best I can be has been my life’s BIGGEST challenge, but I am learning how more purposeful we are than we could ever imagine. Our words, compassionate or critical, leave a mark on the hearts of others.
Never doubt that you have a great purpose, courage, and strength. Look back on all you have gone through, and you’ll see how extraordinary you are!
