Healed From Breast Cancer
Many people who contact me about my story of healing from stage 3 and 4 breast cancer think differently about what I did to heal. I understand why. I understand that feeling of searching for survivors, and I think when they are trying to cope with anxiety and rush to get answers, they may get confused about those stories. I have been completely healed from stage 4 breast cancer since 2011. I never did chemotherapy or hormone blockers throughout my 4 1/2 years of getting cancer care.
July 2006
I was diagnosed with Invasive ductal carcinoma, which happens when abnormal cells grow in the lining of the milk ducts and invade breast tissue beyond the walls of the duct. It was hormone-positive(Progesterone and Estrogen HER2 Negative.) I went only to three places for cancer care from 2006-2011 until I was completely cured. I have provided links to all cancer facilities and doctors below.
October 2006
Surgery Seattle WA, UW Medical Center Dr. David Byrd did a bilateral mastectomy and lymph node removal. I got a severe staph infection. I was too sick to do chemo and was on IV antibiotics. Hormone blockers were recommended. I did not do them; radiation was advised. I did not do it at the time.
July 2010
I was diagnosed with stage 4 recurrence metastatic breast cancer with metastasis to all lobes of my lungs, sternum, ribs, clavicle, and soft tissue. That's it. It did not ever spread to my brain or my liver, or any other vital organs. UCLA Oncologist/Hematology Dr.Martin Palmer oversaw my general care at a UCLA satellite office, only providing labs and radiology. Nothing else. I saw him every month to labs and discuss options. I refused the hormone blocker treatments he recommended of tamoxifen and Letrozole. Instead, I had both ovaries removed (bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy). I did ONLY one intravenous Zometa for my bones. I could NOT handle the side effects of pain and refused further treatments.
August 2010
Dr. Palmer referred me to Dr. Paul Miller for radiation on my sternum to slow the spread of cancer in my bones and prevent paralysis.Dr. Paul Miller at Los Robles Hospital did 22 radiation treatments out of his 40+ planned. It failed and caused staph infection and then pneumonia.
September 2010
Dr. Palmer updated me with serious news of how aggressive cancer had become and informed me that I had 3-12 months to live, and suggested that I get my affairs in order at home. Chemotherapy was not an option because I was sick with the infection. He did refer me to an infectious disease doctor, Dr. Sujay Dutta, who put me on Intravenous antibiotics. I decided not to get my affairs in order as Dr. Palmer recommended and not quit trying to heal my body. My girlfriends and I raised money with an entire community of people I will never get to thank in person. I could afford to go to CMN HOSPITAL in five months thanks to my "Angels for Shannon Fundraiser" for the alternative cancer treatment program.
February 2011
we raised the money, so I began treatment under the care of the General Hospital Director, Dr. Edgar Payan, at CMN Hospital in San Luis, Mexico. I NEVER went to any other cancer facility in Mexico except CMN Hospital. I can't speak of any facility other than what I experienced.
Today
I am cancer-free. CMN Hospital saved my life. In August 2011, all my symptoms were resolved. October 15, 2011, a pet scan confirmed that I was 100% healed after Dr. Payan's Alternative cancer treatment protocol at CMN hospital. It was a long journey with many hard decisions to make. There is hope if a doctor says we have months left to live. As a Christian, I understand that medicine has its place, but above all, I see God as the number one reason for my daily life.
